Pressure gauge calibration
brannan.co.uk
When calibrating an instrument we measure both rising pressure and falling pressure to ensure the device under test
is reading accurately when both an increasing and decreasing pressure is applied.
Our calibrations are performed using a hydraulic deadweight tester that has itself been UKAS calibrated. Deadweight
testers are the basic primary standard used in pressure calibrations and its principle is world-wide. They use a piston
cylinder on which a load is placed to make equilibrium with an applied pressure underneath the piston. The apparatus
uses known traceable weights to apply pressure to oil for checking the accuracy of pressure instruments. We also have
a number of high accuracy test gauges, allowing calibrations to be performed using a comparative technique. Our deadweight tester and range of standard gauges allows us to o昀昀er cost e昀昀ective and timely calibrations to suit all customer
requirements.
The table to the right shows the ranges we are capable of performing traceable
calibrations over.

Vacuum gauges can also be calibrated between pressures of 0 to -1 bar using a comparative technique against
known standards. These can be calibrated to produce traceable certi昀椀cates.
We are unable to provide UKAS calibrations for vacuum gauges.
